H.E.Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi

ACTVET

Born in Al Ain in 1970. Graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte (United States of America). In 1995, Mubarak Al Shamsi began his career with the Higher Colleges of Technology – Al Ain as Supervisor of Student Affairs and Community Relations, subsequently becoming Dean of Students’ Services & Community Relations. In 2005, he further pursued his education, earning his Master’s Degree in Education Administration, major in Education Leadership and Management, from Queensland University of Technology (Australia). His passion for education was to be exploited upon his return to the UAE, as he was appointed the Director General for Abu Dhabi Educational Council (ADEC) in 2006. In 2008, he joined the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT). His contributions have led directly to many of the successes that IAT has accomplished. Simultaneously, in 2009 he was assigned as Project Director with a mandate to establish the National Qualifications Authority (NQA). Mubarak Al Shamsi was appointed as Deputy Director General of Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) by Amiri Decree No. (2) in 2011. In 2014 he was assigned as Director General by Amiri Decree number (81), the position he is currently holding. His belief in the future of technical education, and the need for technology to be led by young qualified Emiratis, lies at the core of ACTVET. In addition to his role in ACTVET, Mubarak Al Shamsi holds the following Board member positions: Member of Abu Dhabi Vocational Educational Institute Board of Directors in 2013 by Amiri Decree number (30).Member of Zayed University Board of Directors in 2014 by the UAE Cabinet resolution.Member of Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs Board of Directors in 2014 by Amiri Decree number (7). Member of Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council Board of Directors in 2014 by Amiri Decree number (64).Member of National Qualifications Authority Board of Directors in 2015 by The Cabinet Resolution number (16/6/150).Member of Dar Zayed for Family Care Board of Directors in 2015 by Amiri Decree number (108).

Ali Al Marzouqi

In his role as President, Mr. Ali Al Marzouqi has led Emirates Skills since 2007. Through his position, Mr. Ali continuously helps to raise awareness of vocational and technological education around the world, especially in developing countries. He also ensures that high-quality technical standards are achieved, in order to attract more countries to join and benefit from world-class vocational and technological competition. Under Mr. Ali’s leadership, EmiratesSkills took the initiative to establish the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) Skills Competition, now renamed WorldSkillsGCC. The first contest was hosted in the UAE by EmiratesSkills in 2008 in the city of Al Ain. Mr. Ali has been the Technical Delegate for the UAE team at WorldSkills Competition since 2009 and acted as a Jury President during WorldSkills Calgary 2009 and as Jury President Team leader in WorldSkills Leipzig 2013. Mr. Ali is currently member of the Board of Directors of WorldSkills. These responsibilities and experience have enriched his technical experience at the international level, enhancing his career progression and providing qualifications that have added value to the positions he has held. Mr. Ali was Vice Principle of IAT Dubai from 2005 to 2008 and Senior Manager Student Services for IAT campuses from 2008 to 2010. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Work Force Education and Development from Pennsylvania State University (USA) and an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems (Microcomputer Specialist) from Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Eng. Ziad is the Director of Licensing & Accreditation department, and has over 20 years’ experience in the training industry and nine years in the Telecommunication networks operations. Prior to joining ACTVET in 2011, Ziad held the position of Head of Technical Training at Etisalat, the leading telecommunications service provider in the MENA region. Ziad holds a BSc in Telecommunications and a Master’s Degree in Quality Management.

Naeema holds an Executive Master's in Public Administration EMPA (distinction with honors ) from Zayed University in partnership with the Universities of Indiana and Utah (USA). She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology from College of Technological Innovation (distinction). Her career to date spans a broad range of professional expertise. She had various professional work experiences in diffident government entities and educational organizations in different areas such administration, education, technology, project management strategic planning & performance management. She is serving on committees and professional associations in various specialized areas and attaining professional certification in different areas such as strategic planning, performance management, quality, leadership, excellence, innovation, technology, & project management. She is highly motivated to raise the profile of the technical and vocational education sector in the country. Under the guidance of ACTVET senior management, Naeema and her team engage in a sound strategic planning process that aligns with the UAE vision 2021 and the Abu Dhabi Economic vision 2030 for the emirate. Working closely with the relevant institutions, she has participated in the preparation of the Abu Dhabi Plan 2016-2020 and in the preparation of government performance reports for the education sector. She has received several academic and professional awards such as the Middle East Future Leaders Excellence Award in Education, the Shaikha Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan award for voluntary service and contribution to the UAE community. She was one of top ten students who were selected from universities across the UAE for the prestigious Emirati/Jordanian Honor Graduate Award, awarded the H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak award for academic excellence at both master's and bachelor degree levels, Dean’s list awards, and the College of Technological Innovation Appreciation Award.

Saqer Al Hammadi

Saqer Al Hammadi

Support Services

Eng. Saqer Al Hammadi is the Director of Support Services, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, USA. He has over 20 years of experience in project Management, contract negotiation & administration, budgeting, staff management, technical support, and client relations. Prior to joining ACTVET, he worked with government funded infrastructure and asset projects as well as managed large scaled commercial projects. In his current role, he spearheads and oversees the daily operations of all support departments, and special projects. He was previously the Head of Project Management Office, where he led the delivery and success of ACTVET projects such as Empower and Employ Emiratis Project (EEE) that aimed to help UAE national graduates find employment in the private sector.
